In the latest edition of the Edge Magazine, Tymon Smektala spoke about Dying Light 2: Stay Human. SmekTala is employed by Techland as a technical lead designer.
In the interview, he explained in detail why the Polish developer studio has decided on a further shift. According to his statement, all created contents are tested twice. The game contains complex systems created by several hundred employees. In the course of production they gradually engage each other. However, several cases are discovered in which this is not so. These errors must be resolved for a smooth gaming experience.
In most cases, these are simple troubleshootings. Of these, as many bugs have to be tested and removed as possible. The content development, however, has already been completed.
We will use the extra two months exactly. And maybe we will also install one or two Easter Eggs..., the developer.
Each skill is a gamechanger
Next, SmekTala went closer to improving the progress systems: In the original, some skills were only filling material that could improve the attributes. In Dying Light 2 every skill is a turning point in the game. Almost everyone gives you a new ability you can try out enemies immediately.
The urgebook of the character should feel significantly different than in its predecessor. While in the first offshoot how the network of Spider-Man works and the laws of physics disregards, the device behaves more like the rope of Tarzan in the second part. For example, if you do not continue during a parkour, you can attach the enteed to a specific object and thus bridge a greater distance.
To link the parkour and combat mechanics, the conductive gameplay designer called Bartosz Kulon has expressed itself here:
